General Description

Ruby is a Najad 331, a modern sailing cruising yacht that provides exceptional sailing performance designed to RCD category A (Ocean) requirements, the Najad 331 is capable of comfortable long-distance cruising.

Designed and built without compromise in Scandinavia by craftsmen who over generations have developed skills to provide high quality boat building with outstanding precision and a superior quality of finish.

The Najad 331 has a wide and flat hull line at the stern which results in high buoyancy, this provides excellent performance down wind, the sharp bow cuts the waves easily resulting in low water resistance, combining this with the long sailing waterline provides an impressive windward performance. The long fin keel which has a widening base gives directional stability and reduces drag.

The Najad 331 has a stiff and strong hull, this is due to its sandwich construction and multi-axial roving laminate using ISO polyester resin and an NGA gelcoat, this gives a water tight surface. The fully balanced spade rudder with a strong rudder post on double roller bearings inclined aft, guarantees easy and precise steering with directional stability.

The Najad 331 has a fractional rig 19/20 with spreaders angled backwards and when trimmed has the stability of a masthead rig. The yacht may be sailed using the Genoa only, due to its large fore triangle.

The Volvo Penta 2030 28 hp engine combined with a twin bladed folding propeller provides the mechanical propulsion.

Not only is the Najad 331 impressive to sail, it has a well-designed layout, featuring a spacious, secure deep sided cockpit with easily accessible under seat lockers situated on both Port and Starboard sides, it features a large saloon with two large cabin berths, fore and aft.

Below deck the Najad 331 has excellent ventilation, this along with the well-insulated hull results in a dry and comfortable living environment. The voluminous saloon cabin is light and airy with standing headroom of 1.78 m, there are plenty of cupboards, shelves and practical hanging lockers all around the yacht’s interior. A large double leafed dining table is situated in this saloon area.

There is a wide (2.0 m) double berth aft cabin, this berth has opening twin portholes, it has plenty of shelving and a hanging locker. There is a spacious forward cabin with standing headroom, this cabin has a nice long double berth of 2.05 m, it also has twin portholes and an opening ceiling hatch, this cabin also has plenty of cupboard space, shelving and practical hanging lockers.

The galley is situated on the Portside of the yacht, it contains a gas stove with oven, a refrigerator, a twin basined sink unit, pressurised fresh water, plenty of cupboards, draw space and work tops.

Situated on the Starboard side of the yacht is the very functional forward facing full sized navigational desk and area, close by is the control panel switchboard and bookshelf.

Also situated on the Starboard side is the large heads compartment, this has a large wash hand basin and shower, there are plenty of storage cupboards and a large ventilated wet locker, there is also an opening porthole.

Overall the outstanding superior quality of finishing is typical of the Najad yard and its craftsmen boat builder’s.
