General Description

This proven offshore/coastal racer/cruiser has just come to market. She is based on an Oyster Light Wave hull and started out life as a minimalistic racer. The current owners have lovingly prepared her for more comfortable long distance cruising during their ownership making her a very comfortable boat whilst retaining much of her racing pedigree. She benefits from recent replacement rigging, a new engine in 2015, a recent hull repaint and has a recent survey available to view.

Owners comments

Blush was bought from Oyster as a 395 hull only and fitted out with stronger hull and the modifications proposed by the original designer ‘Carl Schumacher’ were included in the construction.

In the 19 years we have owned Blush it has been a most rewarding boat to sail. She is fast and responsive and with her current creature comforts, a full-on cruiser racer.

Following our purchase, we knew that we would be sailing mostly 2 handed so we had the rig modified to a Stephen Jones/Atlantic spars scheme with swept back spreaders and had the check stays removed. A furling headsail system was installed and that has been upgraded to a Furlex more recently.

We have cruised extensively along with some racing, with the longest cruise taking us through France, Spain, Portugal, Canaries, Azores and back to mainland Spain.

In 2015 we replaced the engine with a Sole Mini 29, and more recently the hull has been repainted and the standing rigging changed. The auto pilot has been upgraded to a Raymarine SPX5 which helps a lot.

The sprayhood gives good protection and the stacker makes controlling the sail during hoisting and dropping easier. The wide decks make it easier to work on deck with the boat underway.

The previous owner had notable success doing the ARC and crossing in 16 days.
